Game Design

The energy behind Brallegan's Folly is a lifelong momentum of my love, passion, and obsession. I have always wanted to create my own world. To dabble in quest design. To shape a story told through a familiar voice with each choice made. To share my infatuation with things.

What most recently sparked this was Senua's Saga which deeply moved me. While Brallegan’s Folly isn’t about psychosis, I saw reflections of something familiar, something I’d carried for a long time.

Sometimes, the obsessive thoughts feel real.

Sometimes, a search for things that aren’t there.

Always hiding.

I began writing this story in the Spring, when the lilacs were blooming. I’ve always loved flowers, how temporary, fragile and defiant they are, how they return even after the coldest winters.

It felt right that the story should begin with lilacs...

though many years pass in this story, the first chapter being a breezy and carefree spring, the next a brutal and hot summer over the years, then an all-to-quick-autumn gives way for an endless winter for the remaining chapters

...and, if you make it, end with the squill; one of the first flowers to bloom in early Spring.

There’s hope in that.

And something light, even in the midst of all this darkness.

Thanks for walking the path with me.
